A Local Story Worth Telling: Andy Offer’s Farming Journey Turned Book

There’s something special about local stories — especially when they begin in the countryside and grow into something much bigger.

Local author Andy Offer has recently published his first book, “It Wasn’t Meant To Be Like This”, sharing the honest and often unexpected journey behind Whyle House Lamb.

What started as a quiet retirement plan in rural Herefordshire — with just a few hobby sheep — soon evolved into something far more demanding, challenging and ultimately rewarding. The book explores the realities of that journey, from early intentions to the very real ups and downs of building a farming and food business from the ground up.

It’s a story that will resonate with many — not just those in farming, but anyone who’s ever taken a leap into something new and found it didn’t quite go to plan.

Andy will be bringing the story to life at a special illustrated talk at Tenbury Library, where he’ll share more about the journey behind the book and the process of turning real-life experiences into something readable and relatable.
