A Night of Luxury at The Old Hunting Lodge at Newnham Bridge, Tenbury Wells

Our stay at The Old Hunting Lodge at Newnham Bridge, just outside the market town of Tenbury Wells was nothing short of indulgent.

We arrived at our beautifully refurbished double rooms, mine complete with a very spacious en-suite with all the thoughtful touches you hope for when checking in after a long day. Lauren’s double not only had a large en-suite with bath but a useful kitchenette. Complete with a snazzy coffee machine and generously stocked with all flavours of Coffee pods, Tea Bags and even Hot Chocolate – a small detail that immediately made us feel at home. We had the whole of the top floor, which was perfect , with its own private seating area, a great area with three bedrooms. Ideal for friends and family.

After a full day at the office

It was time to unwind properly. Wrapped in our bath robes, we headed down to the private members and guests only lounge, where we met up with friends and ordered cocktails and drinks before making our way to the spa area. This space is something special. With two hot tubs, a sauna and loungers, it feels intimate and secluded, surrounded by lush foliage. You could be anywhere in the world here – it’s peaceful, cocooned and wonderfully removed from everyday life.

The Hot Tubs were everything we hoped for and more, we spent a good hour in there soaking and chatting and could have easily stayed there all evening, time genuinely slows in this space. Eventually, the inviting glow of the logs burning and with our thoughts reminding us of the dinner menu, we glanced over on our arrival, it was time to go inside.

I should mention there are two log burners here, one in the members and guests lounge and the other in the bar and dining area, both adding to the cosy and relaxed atmosphere. After a swift change, it was time to dine. The menu is exactly the kind that makes you “ooh” and “ahh” you know the kind where narrowing down your choices is half the challenge.

Starters ranged from Thai King Prawns to Salt & Pepper Crispy Squid to Grilled Goats Cheese and more. We opted after much deliberation for Thai King Prawns and Halloumi Fries with Garlic Mayo. But what for the mains? We were not alone in the restaurant, our friends, and other guests were torn between choices too, because each dish as mouth wateringly enticing.

Mains were decided pour moi Pan Fried Duck Breast with creamy mashed potato, braised cabbage & apple, roasted veg & Broccoli et tu a Knightwick butchers Beef burger with bacon & cheddar, caramelised onions, Lettuce & Tomato.

Service throughout the evening was faultless with genuine attention to details – from ordering drinks to the seamless arrival of our courses, for me the timing between courses in crucial to an enjoyable dining experience, and this was spot on. Relaxed, unhurried, but never leaving you waiting. Each course was thoughtfully prepared and beautifully presented, and the whole experience struck that perfect balance between refined dining and warm, welcoming hospitality. Need we mention dessert!

The morning after the night before really did require a burn out in the gym but not this time, a must for our next stay!

We couldn’t sign off without mentioning the most comfortable beds, no back ache the next morning for me and the morning shower was powerful, spacious and exceptionally clean, with perfect fluffy, Brilliant white soft towels, waiting on the heated towel rail. The coffee machine was a great addition and perfect to start the day before heading down for breakfast by the fire.
