Tenbury Wells, Worcestershire – St Michael Abbey School is delighted to announce the
appointment of Matt Hire as its new Headteacher. This marks an exciting milestone for the
school as it continues to build on its 168-year tradition of academic excellence and
cultural enrichment.
Mr Hire brings a wealth of experience in educational leadership and a proven track record
of inspiring both students and staff. His vision for St Michael Abbey School focuses on
blending the school’s proud heritage with innovative approaches to learning, ensuring
students are prepared for the challenges of a global future.

Mr Hire is an accomplished and internationally experienced school Principal, having led
successful schools in the UK and across the Middle East, most recently leading Kent
College in Cairo, Egypt. He brings a clear, values-led vision focused on academic
excellence, exceptional pastoral care and the creation of inspiring learning environments
where young people can flourish and thrive. As Headteacher of St Michael Abbey School,
Mr Hire is committed to building on the school’s proud British educational heritage while
further strengthening its boarding provision and expanding its international reach. His
