Mistletoe Auction in Tenbury Wells

This week we headed out to Burford Garden Centre for the Tenbury Wells Mistletoe Auction!

Tenbury Wells has been associated with the sale of Mistletoe for Christmas use for well over a hundred years. The whole of the Herefordshire and Worcestershire areas were once involved in this trade but Tenbury is the only town to still hold mistletoe auctions. Wholesale buyers come from all over the country to bid for local mistletoe lots.

Going once, going twice!

We wandered along rows upon rows of Mistletoe and beautifully crafted wreaths in all shapes and sizes! There was a good crowd of ‘bidders’ and we even spotted a few film cameras along with a certain, well-known Strictly star!

We particularly enjoyed browsing the wreaths. Each design very different to the last and full of those lovely Christmas shades of red and green. Round, heart-shaped, crosses and even a tree-shaped wreath!

The sun was shining and we had a really enjoyable morning out at the mistletoe auction! Special thanks to all the sellers for producing such beautiful Christmassy items, the organisers and also the auctioneer Nick Champion!

Now to look forward to Tenbury Mistletoe Festival!
