To have and to hold

Tenbury Wells, referred to as ‘The Town in The Orchard’ by Queen Victoria, is an ancient Market Town in North Worcestershire, its Town Centre is a conservation area and has a unique selection of independent shops and businesses where friendly personal service is provided.

If you take the time to look around you can book your complete wedding using businesses within a 5 mile radius of Tenbury’s Round Market which is close to St Mary’s Church at the end of Church Street.

Of late Tenbury has attracted businesses which are sympathetic to the Wedding Industry and recently saw a Wedding Fayre with suppliers from around Tenbury Wells attending. The Event itself was held at Burford House Gardens which houses a unique Shopping experience in delightful gardens and is situated a short distance away from Tenbury itself.

On the Royal Wedding weekend there was an also an open weekend for brides at Burford House Bridal with the Pronovias collection as well as mother of the Bride outfits and accessories. Other businesses attended to promote themselves in the pleasant surroundings provided by Burford House & Gardens which is close to the St Mary’s Church, Burford.

Visit Burford House Bridal to view a range of hand selected dresses and if you are not going down the route of a Church wedding, why not book an appointment with Penny Thompson, Independent Celebrant from Hibiscus Ceremonies and sit back safe in the knowledge that you can take your time selecting the other suppliers from the local area to complete your day.

If you are not planning to have a Church wedding take time out to view and book a venue which suits all of your needs, there are plenty to choose from, including the Pump Rooms in the heart of the town, but, maybe you want a Marquee in your own garden so don’t forget generators and marquee lighting which can be sourced locally as can the portable loos.

Tenbury and the local area have a host of cake makers, hairdressers, beauticians like Blush (formerly Beauty Laine) also Shorty’s Studio and jewellers who, if you want something different, can design a bespoke piece especially for you. If your guests need somewhere to stay there is plenty of choice with places to stay, overnight or for a few days, ranging from B & B’s and pubs to Hotels and Glamping.

You will also find venue dressers and a special vehicle to get you to the Church on time, a florist and maybe you would like a lucky Chimney Sweep? You will also find a unique take on displaying your seating plan from a local stonemason who trialled it for his own wedding before offering it to other couples!

After all that planning you will no doubt be thinking about the Hen party or Stag doo? Who wouldn’t? Why not go trekking with Alpacas at Teme Vale Alpacas & Glamping in nearby Eastham?

A relaxing coffee, or something a touch stronger, at one of the Town’s café’s or pubs will set you up for more retail therapy at, say, Smarty Pants where you will find something a little different with a touch of Italian flair or at Unique Gifts-Love your Home where you will find a special touch for the venue or a special gift for someone special.

The added bonus to shopping for your wedding locally is the carbon emissions you will be saving by booking local suppliers as well as the elimination of stress brought on by travelling to the larger Towns, no doubt more than once, and the anonymity that large Town shopping brings. Whereas, in Tenbury Wells, you can deal mostly with the business owners in a relaxed, un-hurried atmosphere.
